You moved into a house with an existing home security system
Sometimes when people close on a home, a modern security system is already in use. All the devices work, are hung in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this example, you might see that you have to call and start a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you add on.
The old owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up cost to make the transfer a snap. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the home security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your old devices with you
You might want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to your new house when you move. That’s fairly easy to accomplish, as most smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each device yourself or contact a Vivint expert to come and dismantle the system. Then our installers will put in the same components -- and any additions you need to put in -- in the new home. And your home security contract will keep the same.
